BENEFITS EXPERIENCED FROM THE USE OF THE GULF COAST PORTABLE OIL QUALITY ANALYSIS PROGRAM

1.       PROVED TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE THAN ROUTINE OIL ANALYSIS IN DETECTING PROBLEMS IN THE FIELD SUCH AS COOLANT LEAKS AND METAL FAILURES.

2.       OFFERED ON-SITE ANALYSIS OF LUBES AND EQUIPMENT.

3.       DETECTED PROBLEMS IN THE FIELD WITH NO DELAY ON RESULTS FROM THE LABORATORY.

BENEFITS EXPERIENCED FROM THE USE OF THE
GULF COAST DIESEL FUEL FILTER/WATER SEPARATOR

1.  OFFERED VIRTUALLY 100% CLEAN DRY FUEL TO THE EQUIPMENT.

2.  REMOVED FUNGI & WATER WITHOUT THE USE OF AN ELEMENT.

3.  REQUIRED NO TOOLS TO SERVICE.

4.  USES THE SAME ELEMENT AS LUBE OIL AND HYDRAULIC FILTERS.

5.  EXTENDED FACTORY FUEL FILTER SERVICE INTERVAL UP TO 6 TIMES LONGER.

6.  WAS HIGHLY COST EFFECTIVE & SAVED ON DOWNTIME & MANHOURS TO MAINTAIN THE EQUIPMENT.

Within the following pages are the summarized results of over 7 months initial testing.  The GCF Filters and P/PM Program are currently installed on the remainder of the Bay Marchand equipment and at other S.O.I. locations and are performing as outlined.

All of the facts within this report have been derived from actual lab reports, Hydro/sensor readings, and other information

and comments from the Bay Marchand Field.

DETAILED TEST RESULTS ON THE GCF FILTERS & GCF PM PROGRAM

During the GCF test period, there were several test objectives.   Listed below are 5 of these objectives and how the equipment, GCF Filters, and GCF P/PM Program have fared to date.

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #1 --- TO SAFELY ELIMINATE ROUTINE OIL AND  FLUID DRAINS ON ENGINES AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS.

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #2 ---TO CONTROL AND/OR SHOW REDUCTIONS IN WEAR RATES WITHIN THE EQUIPMENT.

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #3 --- TO SHOW INCREASES IN FACTORY FILTER  LIFE EXPECTANCY.

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #4 --- TO ACHIEVE PRIMARY FILTER ELEMENT INVENTORY STANDARDIZATION FOR ALL EQUIPMENT IN AREAS  OF LUBE OIL, FUEL, AND HYDRAULIC FLUIDS.

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #5 --- TO CONTROL AND/OR REDUCE MOISTURE CONTENTS WITHIN ENGINES AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS, AS  WELL AS AIR CONTROLS.

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #1 --- TO SAFELY ELIMINATE ROUTINE OIL AND FLUID DRAINS ON ENGINES AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS.

The normal routine oil drain interval for the Waukesha test  engines at the Bay Marchand Unit was at 2,500 hour intervals. Analysts Lab reports have shown us that even when using other additional filtration, such as the competitive filter tested, the Waukesha engine used for the High Speed could not exceed 2,500 hours before an oil drain would be required.

As of 01/01/96, all engines equipped with the GCF Filters have far exceeded oil drain intervals established by S.O.I. over the years.

The following is a list of engines & hydraulic systems and the run time WITH NO OIL DRAINS to date:

GENERATOR # 2  --------------------------------OVER 5 YEARS WITH NO OIL DRAINS

HIGH SPEED ENGINE ------------------------- OVER 25,000 HOURS WITH NO OIL DRAINS

''A'' PLATFORM CRANE ENGINE--------- OVER 6 YEARS WITH NO FLUID DRAINS

WATER FLOOD ENGINE----------------------OVER 32,000 HOURS WITH NO OIL DRAINS

HYD. SYSTEM CRANE------------------------- OVER 6 YEARS WITH NO FLUID DRAINS

HYD. SYSTEM WATER FLOOD------------- OVER 6 YEARS WITH NO FLUID DRAINS

  • TEST OBJECTIVE #2  --- TO CONTROL AHD/OR SHOW REDUCTIONS IN WEAR RATES WITHIN THE EQUIPMENT.

Wear rates within the test equipment were monitored by two independent laboratories. Both of these labs showed that the GCF Filters and P/PM Program were able to control wear rates within natural gas engines and hydraulic systems, without need for routine fluid drains.  Also, these results showed that large reductions in wear were achieved on diesel engines.

These lab results also demonstrated that the GCF Filters and P/PM Program maintained an exceptionally high level of oil quality within the test equipment. Physical properties of the oil within the engines and systems, such as Total Solids, Viscosity, Total Acid Number, Oxidation, Fuel Dilution, Fuel Soot, and etc., maintained very acceptable levels during the test. (SEE ATTACHED GRAPHS DEPICTING THE WEAR RATES AND IMPORTANT PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE OIL WITHIN THE TEST ENGINES AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS.)
