DEPTH FILTRATION
Factory Full Flow Filters use surface filtration. These surface filters remove particles of a given size allowing smaller
particles to pass through. For Example, many factory spin on oil filters remove particles down to 10 microns. The
majority of wear in diesel engines is caused by particles smaller than 5 microns. Depth Filtration consists of a fixed matrix of fibers arranged in random
fashion. They provide a large number of flow passages through which particles must find their way. The result
of this arrangement is a broad pore distribution with the ability to remove many smaller sized particles, in contrast with the narrow pore distribution found in surface filters.
GCF Filters use cellulose media, which not only traps microscopic particles below 1 micron in size, but also chemically dries the oil or fuel by absorbing moisture.
Common filter media uses cardboard type material that does very little to remove moisture. The Gulf Coast Filter has been proven in test after test
with companies such as Shell
Offshore and Scott
Paper to positively eliminate routine oil changes and drastically lower wear rates.
