FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

The Gulf Coast Filters, Inc. Oil Analysis program provides you with the tools necessary to get the maximum life out of your equipment.  It is critical to know the wear rates of your engine and detect problems prior to them becoming catastrophic failures. Knowing when to schedule maintenance, such as a tune-up or an in-frame overhaul, is the key to avoiding extremely costly breakdowns on the road.

The cooling system within the engine is responsible for circulating the coolant, absorbing the heat from the engine, and then it must dissipate the heat through the radiator.  As a vital part of the overall equipment operation, the cooling system should be inspected and monitored routinely.  Roughly 40% to 50% of preventable engine failures can be traced back to the cooling system.

With Gulf Coast Filters, Inc. Fluid Analysis Program customers simply pull the oil sample and/or coolant sample and mail it to the lab in the envelope(s) provided.  Once the lab has received the sample(s) and completed their testing, the results are forwarded to GCF.  GCF thoroughly interprets all available data, current and historical, and provides beneficial insights and experience-based recommendations. This enables Gulf Coast Filters, Inc. customers to make informed, proactive maintenance decisions which can result in extended drain intervals, enhanced engine life and maximized profitability.
